About
Starweave is a one-button game about timing. Hold, and your ship grabs the nearest star and swings around it; let go, and it flies off on the tangent toward the next. Each star takes one grab, and lets you round it less than once, so you grab and let go, and every star you weave off scores. Some stars have a colored arc on their ring: grab from within it for a bonus, bigger the smaller the arc, and let go before the arc shrinks away. Fly into a star, and your run's over. Behind you, the star you left has gone supernova, and its wave gains on you the longer you last.
- One button. Hold the mouse, your finger, or Space to orbit; let go to fly.
- Weave and skip. Every star you leave for the next scores. Go over one, then under the next, and each weave adds to your weave streak and scores twice it, with a chime that climbs, a trail that grows, and a word for the long ones. Skip along the top or the bottom, round each the same way, and each skip adds to your skip streak and scores it. Switching keeps both; hang on until a star lets you go, or stall, and both break.
- Arcs. They turn to face you as you near. Grab a star from within its arc, and let go before it shrinks away: a half arc scores 2, a tenth 10, times the streak of the move that grabbed it. Hang on too long, and the points are gone.
- Golden arcs. Rare, small, and turning: worth 20, times the streak of the move that grabbed it, if you can catch one and let go in time.
- Outrun the wave. It starts slow and speeds up the longer you last, and come to a stop, and it pulls you back in.
- Mind the stars. Fly into one, and your run's over.
- It gets tighter. The farther you go, the closer the stars, the higher and lower they sit, and later, every arc starts turning.
- Your best run is kept, and shown under your score.
- Leave it, and it plays itself, on a computer. Watch for a while, then take over whenever you like.
- How to play. A short slideshow of every move, from the title on a phone, or H on a computer. Swipe, or press ← and →, to go through it; tap to play.
Play with sound: a low drone hums through deep space, and swells and quickens as the wave closes in. Press M to mute.
